In 1996 Irina Gagite made her debut as Queen of the Night at the Marinskij Theater. Thereafter she interpreted Lucia di Lammermoor and Donna Anna at the same theater. In 2002 she sang Eleonora of Verdi's "Oberto" at the Scala Milan.

Irina Gagite has worked with numerous renowned conductors, i.a. Valeri Gergiev, Marco Boemi and Gianandrea Noseda. With the Marinskij Theater she performed i.a. at the Savonlinna Festival in Finland, at the Ravello Festival, at the Ravenna Festival and at the Salzburger Festspiele. With Placido Domingo she sang a "Blumenmädchen" at Wagner's Parsifal in Baden-Baden.

In the Royal Opera House Covent Garden Irina Gagite interpreted Elisabetta in "Don Carlo" and further engagements led her to Helsinki and Riga. At the Metropolitan Opera New York she sang Polovjetskaja in "Prince Igor".

Irina Gagite is from Magadan in East Siberia. During her studies in St. Petersburg her extraordinary talent was yet evident. She was a laureate of the Gatow Foundation and of the Competition "Mario del Monaco". Furthermore she won diverse Russian singing competitions, i.a. the renowned "International Rymskij Korsakow Competition". Her repertoire comprehends numerous parts as a dramatic coloratura soprano and as spinto dramatic soprano.
