Ziad Nehme was born in 1984 in Tripoli, Lebanon. On leaving school he attended the Lebanese National Conservatory of Music in Beirut studying singing with Prof. Kevork Karametelian. He graduated with honours in Voice and then completed a Masters in Opera at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Since November 2008 Ziad has been a member of the International Opera Studio at the Hamburg State Opera and continues his vocal studies with Counter-Tenor Andrew Watts.
Ziad is equally at home on both the operatic and the concert platform and performances have taken him to some of the major venues in Europe and also to his native Lebanon. Concerts have included Haydn's Great Organ Mass, Mozart's Solemn Vespers, Credo Mass and Coronation Mass, Schubert's E-Flat Major Mass, Handel's Messiah, Vivaldi's Magnificat, Beethoven's Choral Fantasy. Recitals have included Schubert's Winterreisse with pianist Vartan Agopian in Beirut and Schönberg Brettl Lieder in Hamburg.
Ziad's operatic roles include Don Ottavio(Don Giovanni) at the Al-Ain Festival (UAE), Basilio (Le nozze di Figaro) at the Mozarteum (Salzburg-2008) and Byblos Festival (2010) and Nerone in Handel's Agrippina in Hamburg (2009). Ziad is currently singing the following roles at Hamburg State Opera: Balthasar Zorn (Meistersinger), St-Brioche (Die Lustige Witwe), Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte), Goro (Madama Butterfly), Albazar (Turco in Italia), Hotel Porter (Death in Venice), Scribe (Chowanschtschina), Normanno (Lucia di Lamermoor), Spoletta (Tosca), Basilio (Le Nozze di Figaro) and Dr. Blind (Die Fledermaus). Ziad is as of season 2010/2011 member of the ensemble at Stadtheater Bremerhaven and will be performing the following roles: Boni (Csárdásfürstin), Bob Boles (Peter Grimes), Chip (On the town) and Count Ivrea (Un giorno di regno).
Ziad has appeared as soloist with the Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra, The Mozarteum Orchestra (Salzburg), the Lehar Orchestra (Bad Ischl), the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra and worked under such conductors as Simone Young, Michael Schønwandt, Stefan Lano, Vince Mendoza, Alessandro De Marchi, Stefan Soltesz and Dennis Russell Davies.
