The bass baritone Rainer Scheerer, born in Berlin, is one of the most promising talents of the young singer generation.
In 2007 he was laureate of the Kammeroper Schloß Rheinsberg. Currently Rainer Scheerer is studying at the Academy of Music „Hanns Eisler“ in Berlin. He has been guest at Staatstheater Braunschweig (Kaspar in „Freischütz“) and at Heidelberger Theater (Colline in „La Bohème“). Furthermore he has been engaged by the Otello Teatro Forli in Italy in Puccini’s „Gianni Schicchi“ and Ravel’s „L’Heure Espagnole“. He also gave concerts with Rossini’s „Petite Messe Solenelle“ and the „German Requiem“ by Brahms.
In June 2008 Rainer Scheerer sang the Rigoletto part at the Ring Award in Graz. In December 2009, he sang Beethoven’s Symphony n°9 at Konzerthaus Berlin with the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt/Oder under the direction of Howard Griffiths.
In 2008/2009 he was engaged by the Theater Heidelberg and in Kaiserslautern as a guest in „Zar and Zimmermann“ and Britten’s „Fiery Furnance“. Rainer Scheerer is also a remarkable actor. He performed at Deutsches Theater Berlin in „Opernschlampen“ and at the Studio Theatre of the Schauspielschule Ernst Busch in Grimm’s fairy stories. He works regularly in movie productions. Further projects include engagements by the Israel Kibbutz Orchestra in „The Creation“ by G.F. Händel.
