Anna Gorbachyova was born in the Siberian town Shushenskoye in 1985. Before starting her singing studies in London she finished her Bachelor studies in International Relations at the Ural State University in Ekaterinenburg. At the same time she studied singing at the Tchaikovsky Academy Ekaterinenburg. In 2007 she joined the Master program at the Royal College of Music with Rosa
Mannion and Amanda Roocroft. Since September 2010 Anna is studying at the Royal Academy Opera in London where she was awarded a full scholarship; singing teacher - Lillian Watson.
Anna won numerous competitions. Recently she was awarded the First Prize and the Audience Prize of the First International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera Pietro Antonio Cesti in Innsbruck, Austria (August, 2010); the First Prize of the 42nd International Antonín Dvořák Vocal Competition in
Czech Republic (November, 2007); the Third Prize of the 15th Ferruccio Tagliavini International Singing Competition in Deutschlandsberg, Austria (April, 2009). She is winner of the prize for the Best Foreign Participant at the Giuseppe Di Stefano International Opera Singing Competition “I Giovani e l’Opera” in Trapani, Italy (May, 2009); finalist and a diploma-winner of the 17th International Opera Singing Competition in Siena, Italy (July, 2007) and she was granted the Honourable - Mention Award at the 61st Competition for Young Opera Singers of Europe in Como, Italy (January, 2010).
In London Anna is a regular guest performer at the Handel house and the Pushkin House - the center of the Russian culture in London. She performed with the ensemble “Emerald Baroque”, the Baroque Orchestra of the Royal College of Music as well as with the Russian Orchestra of London.
Anna performed the soprano-solo in “Ein Deutches Requiem” by Brahms and in the requiem “Eternal Light” by Goodall, “Foundling Hospital Anthem” by Handel, Cantatas No. 59 and No. 80 by Bach, Mass “Maria Theresa” by Haydn, “The Dream of the Rood” by Ferguson, “Te Deum” by Dvořák, “Petite Messe Solennelle” by Rossini.
Anna performed Tatiana’s Letter Scene and songs by Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky at the 9th International Chamber Music Festival in Nuremberg in September 2010, arias by Rameau at the Russian - French Festival “Four Centuries of French Music” in Kremlin, Moscow in October 2010; conductor -
Christophe Rousset.
Her operatic experience includes the role of Musetta in "La Boheme" in the Hungarian State Opera in December 2010 (conductor - György Győriványi Ráth), concert performance of “L’Elisir D’Amore” (Adina) as well as fully staged opera scenes: “Hansel und Gretel” (Gretel), “Orfeo ed Euridice” (Euridice), “Cosi fan tutte” (Fiordiligi), “Roméo et Juliette” by Gounod (Juliette), "L’Egisto" (Fedra),
"Orlando" (Angelica), “Don Giovanni” (Zerlina), “Le Nozze di Figaro” (Susanna), La Boheme (Musetta), “Alcina” (Alcina).
As well as opera and oratorio Anna enjoys recital; her repertoire includes songs by Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Poulenc, Fauré, Schubert, Strauss etc.
