Da Sol Kim was born in 1989 in Pusan (South Korea). He had his first contact with the piano at the age of eleven when vacationing with relatives owning a piano. In two weeks, he spent a lot of time with the instrument finishing by the wish to learn to play it. At the beginning, he taught himself to play. He learned for example Bartok's Children Dance by listening. Thereupon, at the local music school, he learned to read music and got his first piano lessons.
From 2002 to 2006 he studied piano at High School for the Arts Pusan with In Il Kim and took advanced classes at the University of National Arts in Seoul with Prof. Jong Phil Lim. In October 2006, Da Sol Kim started studying at Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig with Prof. Gerald Fauth.
Da Sol Kim is 1st laureate of the MBC Broadcasting Music Competition in South Korea and awardee of the Ulsan University's Music Competition. 2005, he won the 1st prize at the International Music Competition Nagoya (Japan) and the 2nd prize at the International Music Competition Isang Yun in Gyeongnam (Korea). In 2006, he was 1st laureate of the International Asia Chopin Competition in Japan and in 2008 laureate of the International Piano Competition Geneva. In November 2009, Da Sol Kim made his debut in Berlin with Tchaikovsky's piano concert op. 23 b-flat minor. Under the direction of Michael Sanderling he interpreted several times Mozart piano concertos with Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie.
