DA SOL is among the most highly celebrated virtuosos of today’s youngest pianist generation. His dynamic, perceptive interpretation of the music and his clear, subtle articulation are subjects of particular focus on the part of the international press.

In 2011, DA SOL won third prize at the ARD International Music Competition. He was also prizewinner of the 2010 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, and he won first prize at the MBC Broadcasting Music Competition in South Korea as well as the music competition at Ulsan University. In 2005, he won first prize at the international music competition in Nagoya (Japan) and second prize at the ISANGYUN International Music Competition in Gyeongnam (Korea). He was first prizewinner of the International Asia Chopin Competition in Japan in 2006 and prizewinner at the Geneva International Music Competition in 2008.

DA SOL recently performed the second piano concerto by Ludwig van Beethoven to great acclaim with the Leipzig MDR Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Michael Sanderling. He made his debut in the Berliner Philharmonie with the Kammerorchester Berlin. He also regularly goes on tour with the Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie.

In the summer of 2011, DA SOL thrilled the listening public with his piano recital at the La Roque d’Anthéron piano festival. He also made an appearance as guest pianist at the 2011 international Klavierfestival junger Meister at Lake Constance and performed Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto with the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz.

Da Sol was born in 1989 in Pusan (South Korea). He first came into contact with the piano at age eleven, at the beginning teaching himself how to play by listening to and imitating recordings of Bartok’s dances for children and only later attending the secondary school for the arts in Pusan as a young student under In Il Kim; following that, he studied in Seoul’s University of National Arts program for the advancement of young talent with Professor Jong Phil Lim. Da Sol began his piano studies at the University of Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig with Professor Gerald Fauth in October 2006 and has been studying with Professor Karl-Heinz Kämmerling at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media since 2010.
