Michael Sanderling

Michael Sanderling was born in Berlin and started his musical formation with the violoncello touring as a soloist around the world. Later on he continued his studies by turning more and more towards conducting. By now, he counts among the most sought after conductors of his generation.

The list of orchestras that have invited him repeatedly is long, among others the Tonhalle-Orchester Zurich, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart, Staatskapelle Dresden, Dresdner Philharmonie, Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, MDR-Sinfonieorchester Leipzig, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, Radio-Philharmonie Hannover, Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra und das China Philharmonic Peking.

In 2011, he will conduct the new production of Sergej Prokofiev’s "War and Peace" at Cologne Opera.

From 2006 to 2010, Michael Sanderling was principal conductor and artistic director of the Kammerakademie Potsdam. He is also principal conductor of Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie, one of the best German youth orchestras that has gained more and more recognition in the last years.

Several CD recordings with Michael Sanderling, among others Shostakovitch's works by SONY Classical (2009), have been published by different labels.
